Both Kelli Maciel, health and fitness director at the Osher Marin JCC in San Rafael, and Bonnie McLaughlin, fitness manager at the Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto, agree that high-interval, shorter workouts have exploded in popularity. Says Maciel, Weve always incorporated some interval training into our group exercise classes, but the four-minutes-on and one-minute-off workouts help build core strength and muscle.
